Recruiting volunteers through immersive scenarios
The Emergency Management Team (EMT) was in a difficult spot. With over 9,000 employees, they couldn't recruit enough Fire Wardens, which put them at risk of fines and, more importantly, put employee safety in danger. They needed a course that would not only increase awareness but also inspire more volunteers to step up.
The existing training was a boring series of PowerPoint slides with no practical examples. My approach was to replace it with a story-based, immersive course that put employees directly in the shoes of a Warden. This new learning experience required them to make critical decisions and navigate through realistic emergency situations, helping them learn about their responsibilities along the way.
The pilot test was a big success, receiving very positive evaluations. The client was extremely satisfied with the results, and the EMT finally had an engaging and effective tool to help with their recruitment problem.
