Story-driven learning: Equipping a team with inclusive language
My role as Instructional Designer was to solve a specific challenge for a client: how to make the often-intimidating terms and concepts of gender equality relevant to their diverse staff and consultants.

The key decision was to move beyond the usual passive eLearning format. Instead, we developed an instructional strategy that wove in mini-stories and interactive, scenario-based questions, putting participants in the driver's seat. For example, the learner was presented with a situation and then asked to distinguish between terms like sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression to accurately describe it.

This narrative-driven approach immediately piqued the interest of the staff. By turning complex ideas into compelling, relatable stories, the training resonated deeply. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with learners reporting a newfound confidence and a deeper understanding of gender terminology. The course successfully equipped participants with the clarity and confidence needed to communicate with gender-inclusive language.
